The author, whose books contain graphic violence, says he 'came close' to being killed.

He tells The Independent it was after the author killed his friend's son, who was a pupil at Bexhill Boys' School and another victim of the boy.

The boy, who is not named, was nine at the time and his parents are also dead.

The author told MailOnline that he had been watching him and was angry at 'this boy', a term used to mean children.

'It wasn't the most intelligent thing you could call an attack on him, but he knew where I was sitting,' he tells the newspaper.

This is only the second murder involving a teenage victim of murder who is the son of an ex-teacher.

Michael's son has died of cancer aged 21, three years after the author was convicted of killing him.

A police investigation is being launched to determine if the killing was a homicide or a self-inflicted wound.

Mr Molyneux wrote the murder-obsessed book The End of Men and writes the series called The Book of Lies.

He told MailOnline: 'I killed a 14-year-old son of a man, a friend of mine, because he didn't like my views on things.

'I was at a party with my family where this young man had gotten too into some stuff, and the fact that he was a pupil I thought might be a problem.

'My idea was that he would probably join the boys' gang for years afterwards because he was one of them. I didn't see that happening because he was an easy person to get along with and I never saw it.

'I took him to his friend's home at Bexhill and there he committed suicide.

'There was blood on his face and his stomach when the police arrived. They just looked at it, said nothing.

'It's what really saddens me. He was 16 and he left an awful mess in his wake, and the only people who cared about that, the ones who knew him, were dead.'

A police investigation into the murder is being carried out.

Molyneux was on trial for two counts of wounding with intent at the time of his arrest in April 2002 for allegedly stabbing his father to death.

Bexhill is a popular college for Oxford and Cambridge educated kids, where it is said the book was written in 1987.

Wagga Wagga, a sports centre located at Wagga Wagga City Park in Perth's north-west, was designed by South Australian architect Mark Smith and opened in November, with its grand opening ceremony held at the local public gym in January this year.

"In the past, every time we did Commonwealth Games events in Perth we would need to rely on volunteers to perform the tasks," Smith said.

"In other cities, such as Sydney and Melbourne, we're usually relying on a public service provider, a local broadcaster or even a member of parliament.

"In Perth it has got to be a big brand and it needs to have strong, experienced, long-term involvement."

A Sydney-based charity was announced in January 2016 to take over running of a $45 million sports and recreation centre next door to Wagga Wagga.

But even though the official Commonwealth Games start this February, that date has now slipped to fall 2016, with Commonwealth Games events to begin at the beginning of 2017.

Council member Gary Lewis told 691 ABC Perth the Commonwealth Games could have a bigger impact than hoped on the community than it did in 2015.

"I think it could have contributed substantially to making it a more visible event and to actually putting more people on the streets of Perth," he said.

"It had the potential to go on in Perth but because we had to move the start of Commonwealth Games, which we had decided was a better place for it to be for the community, that would have also taken its toll, too.

"I would encourage us to think about how we could put that extra energy back into the community that was affected by the Commonwealth Games."

Wagga Wagga City Park will host events across sport on Saturday 16 October to celebrate Australia's first sporting milestone as it heads to Europe for the 2018 Olympic Games in June, at which time the Commonwealth Games will start to roll in.
